Evelyn E. Gifford, 74, of 117 Lincoln Street, Jamestown, died Thursday morning (April 29, 1993) in Fenton Park Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 28, 1918, in Hinsdale, a daughter of Robert and Edith Burlingame.
She and her husband operated the Dolly Madison Ice Cream Shop for many years and later, the Coffee Shop in Southside Plaza.
Mrs. Gifford was active in Epworth Christ United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and the Ostomy Club.
Surviving are her husband, Walter J. Gifford, whom she married March 25, 1940; two sons, Gary Gifford of Clinton, MD, and Guy Gifford of Perrysburg; a daughter, Gail Kirchhoff of Jamestown; five grandchildren, Michael Gifford of Cressona, PA, Leslie Gifford of Clinton, MD, Kevin and Jennifer Kirchhoff of Jamestown, Deborah Overend of Fort Huachuca, AZ; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Louise Hopkins of Olean, Donna Kent of Hinsdale and Helen Hirsch of Wellsville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Burlingame; and a son, Michael Allen Gifford.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Epworth Christ United Methodist Church.
