Walter J. Gifford, 84, of 117 Lincoln Street, Jamestown, New York, died Wednesday, January 17, 2001 in his home.
He was born March 16, 1916 in DuBois, Pennsylvania.
He and his late wife, Evelyn Burlingame Gifford, operated the Dolly Madison Ice Cream Stores for many years and later the Coffee Shop in the South Side Plaza.
He was active in the Moose, Elks, past president of The Jamestown Shrine Club, past president of the Drum and Bugle Corps, The Kharram Grotto Club, and many other Masonic bodies. He was also a member of the Christ First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Evelyn, and a son Michael Allen Gifford.
